Americo Bonilla Castillo Obituary

Americo Bonilla Castillo, 62 of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at UW-Hospital of Madison.

Americo was born on December 23, 1962, in Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Jose Vicente Castillo and Demetria Bonilla. In 2020, he married Maria Morales after sharing over 20 years together. Since he was a teen, Americo worked as a butcher for various employers. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed taking care of his family. Americo loved to cook, always providing the freshest meat and making sure that his family never went away hungry, especially when he made carne asada. Americo had a vibrant personality and larger than life sense of humor. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music and attending the rodeo. When he wasn’t working, Americo’s passion for sports was evident, and he loved to watch and participate in various sports whether it was baseball, softball, football or anything between. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. Above all else, Americo’s family was the light of his life. He adored his children and grandchildren, and took every opportunity he could to spend time with them. His daily calls and checks-ins meant the world to his family, and his legacy of love and hard work will live on in his family’s hearts forever.

Americo is survived by his wife Maria Morales; mother Demetria; 6 children Alfredo Castillo, Alma Esther Castillo, Demetria Castillo, Ramon Morales, Nicolas Morales, and Victoria Rodriguez; 16 grandchildren; siblings Guillermina Castillo, Magdalena Castillo, Micaela Castillo, Maria Castillo, and Ricardo Castillo.

Americo is preceded in death by his father, brothers Senon Castillo and Guillermo Castillo, and granddaughter Marvel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Epiphany of the Lord Parish of Marshall with Fr. Mick Moon presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Americo will be laid to rest at Medina Cemetery following the mass.
