Amos Rhoden, age 86, of Macclenny, Florida, was called to his heavenly home on July 19, 2025, at the Community Hospice Center for Caring at St. Vincent's Riverside, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 4, 1938, in Taylor, Florida, to the late Raiford Rhoden and Ethel Reynolds Rhoden. Amos moved to Jacksonville as a child, where he later met his previous wife, the late Bobbie Fraser. Together, they had two children. On March 28, 1980, while residing in Olustee, Florida, Amos married Lois Patricia, with whom he shared a beautiful life and a loving family.

A devoted member of the Macclenny Church of God, Amos had a deep and abiding love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He had a passion for missions and, alongside his wife, served on many throughout his life. In addition to mission work, he also dedicated his time to serving in numerous youth camps, where he poured into the lives of young people with guidance, encouragement, and faith.

Amos proudly served two years in the United States Air Force before beginning his career at the shipyard. He later founded his own business, Rhoden Insulation, and went on to serve faithfully for 20 years at Baker Correctional Institution, where he held the roles of sergeant and laundry manager.

Amos had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed horseback riding and attending rodeos with his family. He had a passion for bass fishing, which he used as an opportunity to mentor others and build lasting, meaningful friendships. These pastimes brought him joy and allowed him to spend quality time with those he loved.

Amos was an avid Florida Gator fan who wore his orange and blue with pride. He rarely missed a Saturday game, thoroughly enjoyed watching his team, and especially enjoyed victories.

Amos was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and a great grandfather, affectionately known as papa. More than anything, Amos loved his family and treasured spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raiford Rhoden and Ethel Reynolds Rhoden; son, Mark Anthony Rhoden; granddaughter, Sara Prevatt; sister, Esther Faye Tomlinson; brothers G.W. Rhoden, Harold Rhoden, and Euell Rhoden; former wife, Bobbie Fraser; and parents-in-law, Johnny and Lois Lauramore.

Amos is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pat Rhoden of Macclenny, FL; children, Amy Bullard of Olustee, FL, Allen (Heather) Markley of Macclenny, FL, and Ashley (John) Byrd of Glen St. Mary, FL; sister, Verree Greene of Macclenny, FL, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Amos' Life will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Macclenny Church of God with Reverend Shannon Conner, Brother Timmy Thornton, and Brother David Dinkins officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday ONE HOUR prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Amos to Macclenny Church of God Mission Fund, P.O. Box 383, Macclenny, FL 32063.
