Andelina Rivas de Ramírez, known to many as "Lande", was born on November 3, 1932 in Sanarate, Guatemala. Her parents were Florencio Rivas and Fidelina Alegría de Rivas.
She was blessed to be born into a happy, loving home but, devastatingly, during her formative years, had to endure the sudden death of her loving father-something that would affect her deeply throughout her lifetime. She was very close with her mother and grew up alongside her, learning the strategies of the family business while imprinting the virtues of generosity to those in need. Nicknamed "La Vivita" during her childhood, she was a lively and precocious child who displayed an aptitude for mathematics and athleticism, including playing basketball.
Andelina married Carlos A. Ramírez and together they had seven children-Saida, Carlos, Richard, Aura, Eliazar, Alva, and Lubia. She was an affectionate mother who always strove to provide and care for her children. Andelina used her innate business savvy and entrepreneurial spirit to create multiple successful revenue streams throughout her life, which she enjoyed spearheading and kept the household afloat. She skillfully sewed for her children and kept them well-dressed with her own designs. As a grandmother, affectionately referred to as "Mamita Lande", she raised several of her grandchildren while their parents established their households. She cherished her grandchildren, loved them fiercely, and shared her enjoyment for travel, often taking both local and international trips with them.
Andelina was vivacious and had a tremendous passion for life. She took every opportunity to take in the world and enjoyed all outings, from running errands to elaborate vacations. She was immensely social and routinely formed instant connections with strangers. Andelina enjoyed singing and dancing, and had such a natural talent for it that she even considered the singer stage name of "Lina Linares". She preached the power of positivity and, while profoundly devastated by the eventual passing of her mother and later the untimely death of her son Carlos, she continued to spread optimism while lovingly kissing their pictures and praying for them every night.
Andelina Rivas de Ramírez passed away on June 15, 2025 at 92 years young, surrounded by her family until her final moments as they ensured she received the profound love she had shown them throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered for her joy of living, vibrant personality, positivity, strength, faith, entrepreneurial spirit, and loving nature. She joins her parents, her siblings, her son Carlos, and her grandson Richard Octavio, in eternal peace.
