GLORIA HERNANDEZ Obituary

Gloria Hernandez of Bisbee was taken quietly during the night by the hand of God on May 9, 2025 from Haven Healthcare, in Sierra Vista at the age of 77.

Gloria was born in Bisbee Arizona, on September 8, 1947 the parents of Manuel and Christina Hernandez. She was the second oldest of four siblings. She attended Bisbee Public Schools and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1965.  She continued her education and obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant from Cochise College, which carved the path for her decades long career.

Gloria, along with her family was a devout Catholic, finding peace and solace in prayer. Her greatest milestone was the birth of her son Miguel, whom she loved beyond words. She raised her son in a home rich in love, family, tradition, prayer, good food and support. She was proud of the gentle, compassionate, smart, successful man he became. Miguel gifted her two grandsons and a one great-grandson. She was a boastful, loving Nana and close to her grandchildren. Gloria also helped raise her nephew Alex, who she treated as a second son. Miguel and Alex were raised as close as any brothers could be.

Gloria also had a strong bond to her last surviving sibling, Manuel. Her big brother and the family protector. He filled his role unselfishly, with dedication, and love. He made sure he was by his sister’s side every single day when she needed him the most. He would visit starting in the early morning and leaving late at night, whether it was at her home or in the hospital. Their conversations were endless, with nostalgic ties in between. He recalls that his best memories were of the entire family sitting around the kitchen table enjoying each other’s company and her delicious home cooked meals. Her other joys included gardening, reading, fashion, listening to Mexican music, Elvis Presley and the color orange. She will be greatly missed.

Gloria is proceeded in death by her Father Manuel Hernandez, her Mother Christina Diaz Hernandez, her sister Josephina Hernandez Rodriguez and sister Rita Diaz Hernandez.

Gloria is survived by her son Miguel (Melissa) Hernandez, her brother Manuel Hernandez, grandsons Keaton Bloss and Adrian Hernandez, great-grandson Mako Bloss, her nephews Alex (Christene) Hernandez and Diego (Amber) Rodriguez, her niece Kristy (Adam) Tindell, grandniece and grandnephew Alicia and Alex Hernadez, her Tia Josie Hernandez, her Tio Lupe Diaz and Tio Tony (Alicia) Daniels.

The Breath of a Whisper

-From Gloria to you-

I hear a whisper calling my name. I can feel his angels comforting me through my pain. A familiar touch, like a beacon of hope shining its light on the darkest of nights. Visions of my childhood scatter across the starry sky, as the sounds of laughter shoot across the high. My precious days gone by.

I am ready, but will those I leave behind understand it is time?

Do not cry…

My dearest, you were my strength when I was weak,

my compass when I was lost and my warrior throughout the fight.

I am grateful for you holding my hand and standing by my side.

I am not alone on my journey…

There is comfort in his arms, as he carries me home. He whispers prayers in my ear, for my soul and spirit to hear.

He is setting me free…

No more illness, no more pain, only strength remains.

I’ll walk through the gates of heaven, with angels by my side.

Let me wipe your tears…

I’ll be here… in just the breath of a whisper.
