Ann Gail (Murchison) Johnson of Durham, NC, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Ann Gail was born on December 2, 1937, in Sanford, NC, to Frances and Harold Murchison. She grew up alongside her brother, Bill, in Goldston, NC. In 1957, she married Larry B. Johnson, Sr., and together they were blessed with three sons: Larry, Kevin, and Bryan.
Ann Gail was a joy to all who knew her. She lived a rich, full life surrounded by friends and family. If you were fortunate enough to know her, you felt her kindness, support, and generosity in every word she spoke. A longtime resident of Durham, she worked for GTE and later for Kroger Pharmacy.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed staying active with friends at Silver Sneakers and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. She found joy in cooking, gardening, traveling, and playing cards-but what she treasured most was time spent at home with family and friends, sharing stories and creating memories. Her loved ones will always remember these moments with fondness, because of her warmth, wit and calming presence. She was an amazing lady and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ann Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Harold Murchison; her husband, Larry Johnson Sr.; and her son, William Kevin Johnson. She is survived by her sons Larry Johnson Jr. (Julie) and Gregory Bryan Johnson (December); her grandchildren Morgan Lindeman (Matthew), Matthew Johnson, Andrew Johnson (Savannah), Seth Johnson (Kersten), and Sophie Fulle (Tucker); her great-grandchildren Emma (7), Mark (5), and Laura Kate (3); her brother Bill Murchison (Lydia); and many beloved extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 806 Clarendon Street, Durham, NC 27705.
