Jack G Jones passed away the morning of Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 84. He was a long-time, active member of First Baptist Church in Clinton, TN.

His life began in a small town in NW Kentucky as the first son of V.H. and Clydia Mae Jones. He graduated from Henderson County High School in Henderson, KY. Then continued his education at Murray State University where he obtained a B.S. in Physics and Math. During his time at Murray State University, he was actively involved in Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, ROTC, and other various clubs and organizations. Following graduation, he began his service in the United States Army at Fort Bliss, Texas reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Post-military commission, he and his wife, Carol W Jones, and daughter, Chris, settled in Oak Ridge, TN. While beginning his career with Union Carbide at the K-25 facility, he continued to serve in the Tennessee National Guard. Through several government contractors, he continued his career as a computer programmer until his retirement from the Y-12 facility.

Jack was well-known for his family and friend loyalty, compassion, sense of humor (often in his own agitating manner), honesty, and overall support for the Clinton, TN community. He was active in the Optimist Club, helped establish Clinton's swim team programs, and served in many roles at First Baptist Church. Most recently he served as the steward of the First Baptist Church's Christian Service Center ministry, a clothing and food pantry supporting the community of Clinton, for 19 years, which he did until he became the primary caregiver for Carol due to her dementia / Alzheimer's disease. Additional enjoyments included time spent at Cades Cove, fishing, and working in his yard.

Jack and Carol moved to Farragut, TN to be closer to their children; Chris and Jack, but he continued to miss the Clinton community where they raised their family for 47 years.

He is survived by daughter Chris Doar, and husband Don, from Maryville, TN; son Jack G Jones from Farragut, TN; grandson Tyler Doar from Maryville, TN; sister Debbie Ralph, and husband Richard, from Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law Barbara Jones from Fetus, MO; niece Katie Mazza, and husband Patrick, of Tulsa, OK; niece Sara O'Hare, and husband Isaac, of Tulsa, OK; and nieces' children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, parents, and brother, Glenn "Rick" Jones.

The family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 pm, Friday, September 26, 2025 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with a service to follow. The graveside will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton. In lieu of flowers, the family's wishes are to send donations to First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 268 Clinton, TN 37717 to be used toward the Christian Service Center, Alzheimer's Tennessee Inc. at 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919 (alztennessee.org) in honor of his wife, or American Heart Association (heart.org) in honor of Jack.
