Anne-Marie (Christensen) Huffman, a devoted follower of Jesus, passed away at her home in Mishawaka on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on October 17, 1966, Anne was lovingly adopted at birth by the late Kenneth and Eleanor (Weidner) Christensen. She graduated from Port Washington High School and later from Valparaiso University with a B.A. in Marketing in 1988. On August 29, 1997, she married Steve Huffman. Her steadfast pursuit of Jesus was the catalyst for the spiritual growth of her family.
Anne was preceded in death by two infant children, Elizabeth Joy and Paul. Surviving alongside her husband, Steve, are their children: Benjamin Huffman, Jonathan (Emmy) Huffman, and Jackson Huffman; and Anne's sister and close friend, Sarah Nix.
Anne poured her heart and soul into the things she loved-this included her three boys, her home church, and of course, her Savior, Jesus. She also enjoyed the journey of developing passions into talents, finding joy in playing the cello, crafting with friends, writing, and especially praying for others. She was always eager to be a part of God's work, intentionally pulling others along to show how they could naturally engage in what God was doing.
As a devoted mother, Anne described Ben, Jon, and Jack as the loves of her life. She dedicated many years to homeschooling, field trips, and modeling how to include God in the day-to-day of life. However, her influence extended beyond her family as she readily allowed God to use her to impact many others.
Alongside her husband, family, and faith community, Anne helped develop Project W.A.R.M., a weather amnesty relief shelter providing warmth during winter months for homeless men in South Bend. During those years, Anne spent many evenings sharing the hope of Jesus at the shelter. Her heart for others also led Anne to connect with Jumba Cyprian at Mkumba School in Entebbe, Uganda, where she faithfully supported many children, ensuring their continued education and brighter futures. Her compassion for these children even sparked a partnership between Jumba and her home church, The Vineyard Church, and she was able to visit the children she supported in 2023.
At The Vineyard in Mishawaka, Anne dedicated countless hours voluntarily championing the prayer ministry. She helped spearhead weekly Open Prayer and Worship and increased the prayer environment at The Vineyard and throughout the community. Above all, Anne had a deep relationship with God and passionately shared her faith through prayer. Whether you were her friend, neighbor, waitress, or simply standing in front of her in line at the store, Anne was praying for you.
Philippians 4:4-7 reads, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
That is how Anne lived, and that is the truth she would encourage others to follow as well.
A time to honor Anne's life and visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 3pm–5:30pm at The Vineyard Church in Mishawaka. A Celebration of Life & Worship Service will take place the same day at 7pm. If you are unable to attend, but would like to take part in celebrating Anne, the service will be streamed live from The Vineyard Church's YouTube Channel.
