Anthony J. Buss Jr., 84 of Eland, died on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at home under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Anthony was born on October 10, 1940, in the Town of Norrie, the son of Anton and Victoria (Wojciechowski) Buss.
Anthony was a graduate of Wittenberg High School and UW Stevens Point. On April 26, 1978, Anthony was united in marriage to Christine Pearson in Wausau.
Anthony ran the family farm, he was a Rural Mail Carrier for 25 years and he worked at the Wisconsin Auto Auction for 7 years. He served as director for the Central Wisconsin Electric Co-Op for 20 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus #5008. Anthony played for the Eland Engineers BABA baseball team as a pitcher and he played Old Timers softball in Shepley. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers, nephews, son and Uncle Doug. He also loved enjoying quiet moments on the land that he knew his whole life.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Christine; four children, Peggy (Kirk) Daubenspeck, Joseph (Caroline) Buss, Gina Schneider and Sara Bettin (Charles); six grandchildren, Zach Klingbile, Skyler Barber, Sierra Spoar, Axel Daubenspeck, Elsa Daubenspeck and Winston Buss; two great grandchildren, Brooks Klingbile and Hazel Klingbile, along with countless other relatives and friends.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Spoar; sister, Mary Jane (Maynard) Zdroik; brothers, Robert Sr. (Alvina) Buss, James (Bernice) Buss and Mike (Sue) Buss; nephews, Mark Zdroik and Donnie Petruzates; niece, Barbara Meunier; great nephews, Cody Zdroik and A.J. Zdroik and sister-in-law, Bernetta Petruzates.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Mark Rydell will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 9 am until the time of Mass at the church, with a Rosary being recited at 9 am.
A special thank you to the Oncology Unit at Marshfield Clinic, Weston for your compassionate and comforting care that made appointments feel like visiting friends. Thank you to Amber Damrau for your care and medical expertise through the years.
