It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anthony Larry Hayward, Sr. (also known as Pete), aged 68, of Bishopville, MD on June 25, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Pete was baptized into the Lord Jesus Christ and attended the Church of Christ in Berlin, MD.

He is survived by his wife Gail, with whom he shared 44 years; siblings, Ashley Hayward (Marilyn) - Berlin, MD; James Hayward - Cambridge, MD; Alonzo Hayward (Bertha) - Pocomoke, MD; and Althea Long-Zehring - Harrisburg, PA; his children, Shanta Holland (Steevenson Dorvil) - FL; Anthony Hayward, Jr. - Ocean City, MD; and Antonio Hayward - Bishopville, MD; grandchildren, Ajene Harper (Tay Owens), Raheem Holland, Immanuel Holland (Ashlee Williams), Rosie Holland, Joshua Hussein Holland (Nishat Hussein-Holland), Tara Jackson, Jayden Hayward, Anthony Hayward III, Alexander Hayward, Yani Hayward, Maxwell Hayward, Valtinea Hayward, Dominic Hayward, Aurora Hayward and Aria Hayward; eleven great-grandchildren; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
