Anthony Stoddard Tiemann, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on August 1, 2025, in Eastford, Connecticut. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, on February 9, 1933, to the late Herman N. Tiemann and Lillian (Beers) Tiemann, Anthony's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a successful career, and a legacy of kindness. Anthony's journey through life was shared with his beloved family, including his predeceased first wife, Patricia A. Tiemann, and his devoted wife, Laura Tiemann of 44 wonderful years. He was held in the highest regard by a man whom he considered a brother, Dr. Francis Bachman Sellers, and was predeceased by his brothers Newell, George, and Howard Tiemann, as well as his sisters, Grace Weir and Marianne Sellers. Anthony's love and wisdom live on through his children, Anthony S. Tiemann Jr., Timothy G. Tiemann, William P. Tiemann, Daniel P. Tiemann, and Martha T. Babb. His role as a grandfather to Nicholas, Peter, Joshua, Hannah, William, Henry, and Grace, and as a great-grandfather to Bodie Stoddard Tiemann and one great-grandchild on the way, filled his life with joy and purpose. As the patriarch of the Tiemann family, Anthony's leadership extended to his beloved nieces and nephews, whom he held close to his heart. He was a source of wisdom and comfort, always ready with an open heart and open mind. Anthony's legacy is one of love, commitment, and service. His life's work and the bonds he forged stand as a testament to the man he was. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him. At this time, the family would encourage all to embrace the compassion he put forth into the world and to use that compassion in all aspects of life for themselves and others. Services for Anthony will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Anthony's memory to the Eastford Volunteer Fire Department.
