Arney H. Gustafson Dec. 31,1933-Jul. 4, 2025
Arney was born on December 31, 1933, in Greenbush, MN to Gust and Cicilia Gustafson. Arney grew up in Greenbush, Minnesota and attended Greenbush School. He was then stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington as a Private First Class in the Army. Arney
reunited with Virgene in Washington and the two wed on June 20, 1959. Their first home was in Seattle, until they moved to their Auburn home in 1973. Where they moved with their
four children Joy, Deborah, Dave and Gary.
Arney worked for Longview Fiber before finding his career with the help of Duane Anderson as a plumber. He retired from Auburn Mechanical in 1995. He was also a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union for 55 years.
Arney enjoyed working on various wood projects, hunting and fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He loved traveling back to Minnesota to visit family. You could always find him playing a game of Pinochle and enjoying every minute. Arney was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Arney is survived by his wife Virgene Gustafson, his children Joy (Donald) Hainer, Deborah (Brad) Weber, Dave (Louise) Gustafson, and Gary (Mary) Gustafson. He had 10 grandchildren Christina, James (Ashley), Amanda, Kathryn (Joshua), Dean, Michelle,
Melissa (Braden), Travis, Jamie, and Jonathan. His great grandchildren are Cydney, Annabelle, Trenton, Lilly, Nora, Emile, Holly, Jacob, Sarah, and Amelia. Along with his youngest brother Gayford (Florence) Gustafson.
Arney is preceded in death by his parents Gust and Cicilia Gustafson, along with his brothers Willis and Ray Gustafson.
An interment service will be held on Thursday July 17, 2025, at 10:30 am at:
Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA, 98042.
Followed by a Church Service at:
Zion Lutheran Church, 25105 132nd Ave SE, Kent, WA, 98042 from 1:00-4:00 pm.
