Arnold Groff Obituary

Arnold Leroy Groff, age 81, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on June 29th, 2025. He is survived by his caring wife of 12 years, Margaret Redwine. Arnold was born on December 15th, 1943 in Salem, Oregon to the late Forrest and Della Groff. He spent much of his youth traveling with his family all over the United States helping with numerous community projects for the Church of the Brethren. After receiving his bachelor's degree from McPherson College in Kansas in 1965, he moved to Tennessee to begin his teaching career. He taught Industrial arts, carpentry, and technology for 27 years in multiple school systems around Oak Ridge. After retirement, Arnold enjoyed multiple building projects, hiking and outdoor life, and was incredibly happy to be spending time with his very large family.
Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Della Groff, Stepson Jackie Adams, brother-in-law Ken Wolff, and first wife Betty Wait.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Redwine, his son Christopher Groff (wife Dawn), his son John Alex Groff (wife Holly), his daughter Helen "Whitney" Harmon (husband Aaron), his daughter Addison Groff (Fiancé Josh Conover), older brother Thayne Groff (wife Glenda), sister Elaine Groff-Wolff, sister Floralyn Groff Perry, stepchildren Renee Newberry and Douglas Adams, "bonus daughter" Kim Floyd, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, second wife Kim Riggs, countless loving friends, neighbors and colleagues, and his fur baby "Milo".
Funeral services will be held at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge, TN on Saturday, July 19th. The receiving of family and friends will be from 1-3pm with funeral service to follow.
