Art started his career working as a brick mason, then went to retire from SAPPI after over 30 years of service. He and Arlene were members of the West Michigan Boot Scooters where he served as the first president of their organization. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping along with being a master wood carver. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. He will be interred next to his wife Arlene in Laketon Township Cemetery.

Kathy and I received word of Arts´ passing. We want you to know he and Arlene were both very good friends at VDO.
Both were very talented artists in their own way. I am sure I am not telling you anything you don´t already know. I feel fortunate that Art gifted me with one of his many carvings.
He was a master of his craft and was willing to share his talent by teaching carving. It´s rare that a master artist has the desire or the patience to teach.
He seemed lost without Arlene. I hope you have comfort in knowing they are together again.

It is with great sadness to learn of my friends passing. We had great discussions in The Villages carving club. He was such a great guy and I will miss him greatly. This winters club sessions will be lonely without him. Farewell my friend.
