In Minneapolis she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Dawson at Salem Lutheran Church where they were married on October 14, 1950. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with Bob to many places, including Hawaii and Europe and their yearly family vacations. She also loved to golf, do cross-stitch, was an avid reader and sports fan of all teams Minnesota; especially the Twins and Vikings. Above all, her faith played a very important part of her life. She loved serving the Lord in the church and community including singing in the choir at every church they attended, volunteering at local food shelves and Meals on Wheels, and serving on various other committees. She was recognized as a TLCW member for over 50 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Patty Waters, Barb (Ray) Kraemer and Scott (Teri) Dawson, her grandchildren; Jessica (Andrew Seifert) Melheim, Aaron (Ashlee Clay) Melheim, Courtney (Eric) Guerrin, Tyler (Leah) Dawson, Jana (Garrett) Whisten, great-grandchildren; Cory Kitchel, Kamren Kitchel, Henri Seifert, Jax Melheim, Mia Guerrin, Birdie Melheim, Caleb Dawson, Wyatt Dawson and Emmett Whisten, her sister Janit Sapa as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
