Barbara Beyer Obituary
Barb was born on September 27, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Augustine and Kathryn Beckemeyer (née Sweeney). She graduated from Seton High School in 1967 and Ohio University in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. She went on to teach high school, own a small business as a childcare provider, and raise a loving family.
She will be remembered for her steadfast Catholic faith, dedication to her family, endearing personality, sense of humor, and love for education and travel.
Barb is survived by her husband, Steven Beyer; daughters Karen Hatton (Patrick) and Elizabeth "Beth" Beyer (Matt Whitt); grandson Noah Hatton; brother Laurence "Brian" Beckemeyer (Karen); and many extended family members and friends who loved her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
In keeping with her spirit and the values she held dear, we kindly ask that today be a space of reflection, remembrance, and connection. Our mother didn't care for politics, she cared for people. We lovingly ask everyone to join us under the "Dome of Peace," a little family tradition to help keep the focus on what matters most: honoring her life, her love, and each other. Thank you for helping us hold that space.
Visitation and vigil will be on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 5:30 to 8:00 at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home in Pickerington, Ohio. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Pickerington, Ohio, with luncheon to follow. The family invites all who knew Barb to attend and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barb's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, or the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
