BARBARA DEAN WILSON WHITE, age 79, died Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born July 19, 1945, in Magnolia, AR. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Coy and Girlie Cook Wilson of Magnolia
.
She is survived by her husband Max of Hot Springs, AR; her brother Benny Wayne Wilson of Rogersville, MO, and his wife Laura; a sister, Peggy Jean Wilson Jennings of Texarkana ; nephews, Todd and Chad Jennings, Ricky Wilson, and Ken, Paul, and Jeff Smith, niece Andrea Pletcher, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Tommie Sue Smith of Bloomington, MN.
Barbara worked part-time at the Cameo Theatre in Magnolia for seven years and was a 1963 graduate of Magnolia High School. She graduated Cum Laude in 1967 from Southern State College (now SAU) in Magnolia with a BS Degree in Education.
She taught elementary school in Magnolia, Nash/Texarkana, Nederland and El Paso, TX. In the late 1970s, she worked in the Financial Aid Department at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, TX. Barbara was employed at the Kimball Art Museum in Ft. Worth from 1982 - 1997, retiring after 15 years as Associate Director of Administration.
Barbara loved jogging and ran numerous times in the Ft. Worth Cowtown 10K Race.
After retiring, she lived in Hot Springs Village for 14 years then moved to Hot Springs, AR. She loved gardening, scrap-booking, making occasional cards, watercolor painting, her church work, and reading. At Christ of the Hills (COH) United Methodist Church in the Village, she served as a Stephen Minister/Leader, taught numerous Beth Moore Women's Bible Studies, worked on 20 Women's Retreats, and was involved in the Walk to Emmaus program where she gave a talk on "Growth Through Study". After moving to Hot Springs in 2011, at First United Methodist Church (FUMC), she was active in the Saints & Sinners Sunday School Class and New Legacy Circle. She continued to be involved in the Walk to Emmaus program where she was a member of a Women's Emmaus Group at COH and FUMC.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank staff and physicians with CHI, Southern Caregivers, and Arkansas Hospice.
A viewing will be held at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20 from 5 - 7pm. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21 at FUMC in Hot Springs at 1100 Central Avenue. Pallbearers will be nephews..Todd Jennings, Chad Jennings, Ricky Wilson, Ken Smith, Paul Smith, Jeff Smith. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22 at Magnolia Memorial Park Cemetery, Magnolia, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FUMC, Hot Springs, AR; COH UMC in Hot Springs Village, the FUMC Stephen Ministry program; Alzheimer's Association, Parkinson's Assoc., or charity of your choice.
