Barbara June "Bobbie" Pettit Garrett passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on October 10, 1941, in Oklahoma City, she was the daughter of John Henry "Toad" Pettit and Edna Mae Hannum.
Bobbie grew up in southwest Texas near Del Rio, where she spent her youth enjoying the outdoors-fishing, water skiing, and camping along the beautiful Devil's River with her parents and friends. In her teenage years, her stepfather, Russell Don Smith, became an important part of her life. From Russell and Edna's union came her half-sister, Debra Smith Holt of Central Texas.
On February 24, 1961, Bobbie married Don W. Garrett. Together they had two sons, Chuck and Bobby Don Garrett. Bobbie was a mother, housewife, and hard-working factory employee throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, and her son Chuck. She is survived by her ex-husband Don Garrett-who lovingly cared for her in her later years-her son Bobby Don Garrett, and her half-sister Debra Smith Holt.
Bobbie will be remembered for her strong spirit, and the joyful memories she created on the riverbanks of her youth.
