Gibbins, Barbara Lynn age 61 of Dingmans Ferry, PA formerly the Culvers Lake Section of Frankford Township, NJ passed away unexpectedly February 12, 2025. Barbara grew up at Culver Lake. From a young age, she developed a deep love for water, adventure, animals, art, and the great outdoors. These passions remained an important part of her life. As a teenager, she would ride her bike to work as a lifeguard as well as giving dedicated care for horses. She was known for her fun-loving spirit and loved being the life of the party.
After high school, she proudly joined the United States Navy and devoted her life to serving our country. Her military service gave her the opportunity to live in and explore many states across the country, as well as travel internationally to places such as Germany, Scotland, and several others. Barbara received extensive training in a wide range of specialties. She began her career as a mechanic and fireman aboard a submarine tender and went on to become a skilled marksman, diver, Master Diver, and Naval instructor. She also became highly trained in underwater welding, demolitions, recovery operations, and many other areas.
During her time in service, Barbara earned numerous awards and medals in recognition of her dedication and accomplishments. These included Navy Achievement Medals, Unit Commendations, Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbons, a Sea Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Expert Pistol and Rifle Ribbons, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Barbara lived a life filled with purpose, adventure, and service. Her strength, joy, and generosity touched many, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Barbara was predeceased by her father Ronald E. Gibbins Sr. in 2024, her brother Ronald E. Gibbins Jr. in 2021 as well as her uncle Rev. Richard Gibbins. She is survived by her loving mother Harriet Munson Gibbins of Frankford Twp. NJ, her sister Dana and her husband Kenneth French of Frankford Twp., NJ, and her sister in law June Gibbins of Culver Lake. Also surviving are her uncle Roger and his wife Joyce Gibbins of Branchville, NJ, her nieces and nephews Dane Gibbins, Lauren and her husband Jeff Dolbier, Justin and Alexandria French as well as her great nieces Savanah Gibbins, Reese, and Hailey Dolbier as well as many cousins and friends.
A Celebration of life will be on July 12, 2025 at 6PM in the Christ Union Chapel Culer Lake 155 Lower North Shore Rd. Branchville, NJ 07826. In lieu of flowers memorials in Barbara's memory may be made to the Frankford Township Fire Department (volunteer) P.O. Box 419 Augusta, NJ 07822.
