After graduating from Jersey City State College, Barbara began her career in education, pausing it to raise her three children, Brian, Dawn, and Cheryl. Continuing her education, she achieved a Master's Degree in Library Sciences. Feeding her passion for education and bettering the community, she was Librarian and Media Specialist at Littleton Elementary School in Parsippany, NJ until retirement. Barbara continued her community engagement after moving to Placida, FL by volunteering for groups at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 57 loving years, Arthur Hanson; children Brian Hanson (wife Stephanie), Dawn Sears (husband Glen), and Cheryl McDermott; grandchildren Cassandra, Logan, Matthew, and Connor; and her favorite napping companion, Bella.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, July 1 from 2pm-5pm at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 S McCall Road, Englewood, FL 34224. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 9:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City, FL 34224.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's memory to Suncoast Humane Society at www.humane.org
