Barbara A. Low, 91, of Parkside Drive, Johnston, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 5th in RI Hospital, Providence after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Low. They had been married for 42 devoted years.
She was the daughter of the late Louis and Antonetta (Parrillo) Parrillo and a lifelong resident of Johnston.
After an early career in the booming jewelry industry in Providence, she became a catering manager in the family business, D & L Catering, for over 20 years. She also developed and ran her own successful cake decorating business.
Barbara loved to entertain her family and friends with delicious food, elegantly presented at her home, which was her pride and joy.
In her early years, she was a member of the Country Music Band, Tex Bernard and his Range Riders, as a vocalist and guitarist and performed regularly at the Cedar Grill, a popular music establishment in Johnston.
She will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, work ethic, strength, perseverance and living life on her own terms until the end.
She leaves her daughter, Sheila Guay of North Providence. She leaves her daughter-in-law Heidi Low of Greenville. She was the grandmother of Chelsea Rozen and her husband David of Warwick and Corey Guay of Durham, NC. She was the great-grandmother of Vincent Rozen and step great grandmother of Lucy, Josephine, and Clara Rozen. She was the sister to Marguerite D'Ambra of Ocala, FL and Annette Morin of Johnston. She was the mother of the late Robert Low. She was the sister of the late Chris Parrillo.
Her funeral will be held Monday July 14th at 10:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am in St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in Highland Park, Johnston. Visitation Monday 9:30am to 10:30am.
