Simon Getachew Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Simon Getachew, who left us suddenly and tragically on October 12, 2025, in Washington, D.C. He was 30 years old.

Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Simon came to the United States in his youth, where he attended middle and high school and built a life filled with purpose, laughter, and connection. He lived fully surrounded by those who loved him and his kindness, humor, and radiant spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Simon is deeply mourned by his parents and sister, along with countless friends and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.

Simon's life was a testament to love, joy, and perseverance. His warm heart inspired those around him, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

A church service honoring Simon's life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Kidist Mariam Ethiopian Church followed by a burial at 1:30 p.m. at Norbeck Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and prayer as we celebrate the life he lived and the peace he has found in God's eternal embrace.
