Barbara Clara Vitek was born December 15, 1940, at home in Lind Center, WI, to Matthew and Lonia (Handrich) Davis-Walter. During her childhood, Barbara lived in the Fremont area, Clarks Mill, and Menasha. She went to a one-room schoolhouse before attending Jefferson School and Trinity School, and she graduated from Menasha High School in 1959. After graduation, Barbara worked for AAL and later Wisconsin Tissue Mills, retiring from there in December 1995.

Barbara married Rudolph “Rudy” Vitek on October 15, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a member her entire adult life. Together Barb and Rudy enjoyed bowling, golf, polka dancing, and traveling. They visited all 50 states, Europe, and Mexico, and took cruises in Alaska, Hawaii, and the Mexican Riviera. After retirement they wintered in Mesa, AZ from 1996-2014. Barbara also loved sewing and was an excellent cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Winfield “Bud” Walter, brother Victor Davis, sister-in-law Carol Davis, sister-in-law Eileen Vitek, and brother-in-law George Vitek.

She will be dearly missed by her brothers Jim (Sue) Davis of Delavan, Daryl (Rainy) Davis of Oshkosh, Claire Davis of Omro, stepbrother Ken (MaryAnn) Walter of Oshkosh, and stepsister Eunice (Dave) Bearwald of Oshkosh, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Country Villa, St. Elizabeth’s, and Compassus Hospice Care.

A funeral service for Barb will take place on Thursday July 10, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad Street, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Barb will be entombed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.

In lieu of sending flowers, please give your loved ones a hug and a kiss, and tell them you love them— because that’s what Aunt Barb always did. A memorial will be established at Trinity Lutheran Church.
