Bella Offenbacker of Carthage, Indiana, a 15-year-old Collie-Black Lab girl of David and Katie Offenbacker, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 24, 2025. In 2012 David and Katie adopted Bella from a nice gentleman in Fishers, Indiana, who was no longer able to care for her.
David described Bella's personality as "very sweet and playful, but also very much a jerk at times."
David relayed that Bella's favorite treats were her chicken pot pie treats. She would absolutely snub regular milk bones from the UPS guy unless she was keeping it away from another dog.
Bella definitely did not like bath time. David jokingly relayed, "She looked like she belonged in an ASPCA commercial during baths. Not a fan."
David shared that Bella loved anything fuzzy that she could easily squeeze to make a noise. He shared that there was a squeaky pig that Katie got at Bob Evans a long time ago that she really liked to attack, and she also liked squeaky hedgehog toys, relaying, "She would pick them out herself at PetsMart."
David felt what Bella valued the most in her life was "being with her people. It didn't matter what we were doing or where we were going. Just as long as we were together."
Bella loved going on car rides, truck rides, and rides on the tractor with David. As long as she was right by David's side, she was ready to go.
David shared that what he loved the most about Bella was, "She was always ready to go to work with me. Some days I would think about leaving her home because I thought she needed the rest. She would stand at the door and guilt me into taking her anyway."
David's favorite memory of Bella was, "When we would go to my grandpa's farm to check on the cows. I would let her run out across the pasture to chase the geese. She wasn't fast enough to ever catch them. That and the way she would start barking and pawing at random objects if I moved them with my foot. She thought it was something to get and would pounce around and bark."
Bella loved both David and Katie so much, but she was especially close to David; she was his shadow. She would also let Katie know when she required her attention in the evenings by standing next to the couch, staring at her, and making a cough sound to get her attention. "Her little oofs"
Bella was such a cherished part of the family, and so many happy memories were made with their sweet girl for over 13 years. They are grieving her immensely. Bella will be forever missed, but she will be lovingly remembered and always remain in their hearts. In addition to David and Katie, mourning the loss is her dog sibling and best friend, Lucy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Bella Offenbacker.
