Bettilee Gordon Hughes, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025 surrounded by those who loved her most. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to all who knew her.

A hardworking and determined woman, Bettilee spent many years working at Marvin Windows, where her dedication and work ethic were deeply respected by her colleagues who often called her "Aunt Betti". Before her time at the factory, she was a talented seamstress whose skilled hands crafted countless pieces with precision.

Bettilee was also known for her exceptional cooking. Whether it was Sunday dinner, holiday gatherings, or a surprise visit, there was always a place at her table and a warm meal waiting. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where family and friends gathered not just for food, but for love, laughter, and storytelling. Her door was always open, and her heart even more so.

She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her strong work ethic, and her unwavering love for her family.

Bettilee leaves behind her daughters; Glenda Fullen (Tommy) of Atoka and Valorie Smith of Ripley, her three grandchildren, Jason Doty, Stephen Smith, and Mary Elzie (Brandon), eight great grandchildren, and her brothers; James Gordon, Emmett Gordon and Charles Gordon

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hughes, her son, Michael Hughes, and her brother, Archibald Gordon and her son in law, Zane Smith.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 15th at Maley Yarbrough, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm and the service following at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Grace Cemetery in Ripley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Macedonia Baptist Church in her honor.
