Our Mother and Grandmother, Betty Stott Coates Carr passed into heaven on June 11,2025. She died in Ogden, Utah of natural causes two weeks before her 90th Birthday. Mom was born in Manti, Utah on June 28, 1935 to Elden and Thelma Stott. She was the second oldest child of four children. Eventually the family moved to Salt Lake City where she grew up in South Salt Lake, going to Granite High School and Murray High School. At age 17 she married her sweetheart Norman Lee Coates. They had four beautiful daughters. Mom worked as a waitress and found that she was very good at it.

Unfortunately, mom and dad later divorced. Eventually mom married David Carr. Years later they divorced. She decided to move to Portland Oregon and start a new life. She got a job at the Holiday Inn as a waitress and worked there until she retired. Mom met her future partner Bill Block. They built a house together and traveled around the world and experienced many beautiful places. Mom loved gardening, she was an awesome seamstress, she made our dresses when we were young, curtains, pillows, bedspreads, etc. Mom was also an interior decorator and loved to refurbish old furniture and visit antique stores. She also collected dolls, clowns, and rocks!

After 18 years in Portland, mom moved to Paul, Idaho to be near her sister Reah and her parents. She lived there for 20 years. When her health declined, we moved Mom to an Assisted Living in Ogden, Utah, where she lived out her remaining two years.
Betty has 11 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Mother is survived by her daughters, Kim Cahill (James), Kyle Burch (Joe), Karla May (Marshall) and Kristie Clay (Mark). Mom was proceeded in death by her brothers Clark and Lee Stott and sister Reah Stott, son-in-laws Alan McArthur and Joseph Burch, grandson Brandon Griffiths, and great granddaughter Raven Cordingley,

Her Family would like to thank the wonderful earth angels at Legacy House of Ogden for their care and love until her passing.
Visitation for family and friends will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Morrison Payne Funeral Home. Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
