Betty Jo Johnson, 90, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 15, 1935, Betty Jo lived a full and meaningful life defined by her faith, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to family and community.

She worked faithfully as a pharmacy technician from 1956 until 2010, dedicating more than five decades to serving others with diligence, care, and compassion.

A woman of deep faith, Betty Jo was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and held a special place in her heart for her Deer Creek Church of Christ family, whom she dearly loved. Her life was a reflection of the values she held dear-humility, kindness, service, and grace.

Outside of her work and faith, Betty Jo was a talented and creative soul who found joy in quilting and painting. Her handmade quilts and artwork, each made with care and love, will be treasured by her family for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe R. Johnson; her children, Cynthia Lynn Clayton and Mark David Johnson; her grandsons, John Turner Clayton and Jeffery Marc Cherry; her son-in-law, Gerald Lynn Clayton; and her siblings - three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Cherry, and her husband, Keith Cherry; her grandchildren, Tiffany Cring and husband Mark Jr. Cring, and Jared Clayton and wife Tina Clayton; and her great-grandchildren, Marc Cring III, Finnigan Cring, Jared Clayton Jr., Phoenix Clayton, Gracie Clayton, Daisy Mireles, Jones Mireles, and Kinley Joe Cherry. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Victorian Estates for the wonderful care they provided to Betty in her final years. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Buchanan Funeral Service in Oklahoma City, with a graveside service to follow at Resthaven Memorial Garden.

Though she is no longer with us, her faith, love, and creative spirit will live on in every life she touched and every memory she leaves behind.
