Betty Ann Rowe Nash, 93, of Montross, VA passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 9th with family by her side. Betty Ann Rowe was born on February 9, 1932 and was the daughter of Monds and Martha Rowe both of Montross, VA where Betty Ann was raised and lived her entire life in the community she loved. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Elsie Cluster and Mary Hamed, and brother, Frances Rowe and Nephew, Buddy Cluster. She is survived by her husband, E. Raymond Nash and step daughter, Janet Nash Leigh along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty Ann graduated from Washington and Lee High School in Montross. From a very young age, she worked alongside her father and learned all the aspects of a farmers life, one of which she fell in love with and she continued the farming legacy until her late seventies. Nothing made Betty Ann happier than being on a tractor and plowing and planting and seeing a finished crop come to life. The outdoors gave her an appreciation for flowers, fruit trees, fishing, growing vegetables for markets and the smell of fresh dirt. There was not one job she couldn't do on the farm, and if she didn't know how, she quickly taught herself how to successfully conquer the task.
Betty Ann married her husband, a farmer of course, Raymond Nash, on July 20, 1996 and they spent the last 28 years together side by side; where you saw one you saw the other. She would on many occasions be seen out in the yard gardening alongside Raymond while tending to her plants in their yard that she loved. More often than not, she would open her yard to anyone that may have needed flowers for special occasions especially for her church family as she was a member of Providence United Methodist Church for over many, many years. Vegetables too were always handed out as each season passed to her family and friends.
Betty Ann will truly be missed by everyone that knew her. A special thank you to Contrina Bibbins, Clara Smith, Barbara Johnson, and Sharita Thompson for the love and care they extended to Betty Ann during her illness which gave Betty Ann the ability to remain in her home during her final days with us. Thank you also to Riverside Hospice and their amazing team for all their caring, support and guidance especially visits from Pastor Jonathan Mercer who was able to make Betty Ann just grin with joy when he arrived.
Visitation will be held at Providence United Methodist Church from 1:00 pm. to 2:00 pm for family and friends on Tuesday, July 15th and her service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the following: Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 921 Montross, VA 22520 or Riverside Hospice 4719 Richmond Road / Suite A Warsaw, VA 22572
