Betty Gail Taylor, age 84, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

Betty was the daughter of the late Reverend Paul Stepp and the late Montie Sloan Stepp, and a native of the Sunnyview Community of Polk County. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Betty worked at Rutherford Hospital for over 40 years and was a graduate of the Rutherford Hospital School of Nursing. She was also preceded in death by a brother James William "Billy" Stepp.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John B. Taylor Jr., two daughters, Sherri Taylor Chesney (Michael) and Gail Taylor Wilkins (Bill), one sister, Janice Stepp Smith (Dale), two grandchildren, Emily Grace Wilkins and Erin Wilkins Parce, one great grandchild, Rowan Parce.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 3:30 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2025, with Reverend James Henson officiating and Brenda Lynch will give the Eulogy. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Nursing Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Gideon's International Rutherfordton Camp; P.O. Box 1462, Rutherfordton, NC 28139, or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory in charge of arrangements.
