Bev was born on June 30, 1939, in North Platte, Nebraska to Homer and Alta Discoe. On July 22, 1962, she married Don Siffring and the two started a family soon thereafter. Bev was a Home Economics major with a degree from the University of Nebraska. She gave up her career in extension to stay at home and raise four children and countless pets.
Bev was a beloved Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandma and Friend. She was active in supporting her children in 4-H, Cub Scouts, Boys Scouts, numerous school activities and even their paper routes, as she was an elite level newspaper folder. Bev taught her kids to sing, sew, model, perform speeches and demonstrations, and she was always willing to assist with crafts and projects.
While she was often content to let her husband take the limelight, Bev was a steady influence behind the scenes for her family and those close to her. Her faith was her strength and her love for her family was constantly demonstrated. In terms of wealth, Bev was both spiritually and emotionally rich! Bev was a talented homemaker, with excellent cooking and sewing skills. Her ability to hide mystery meat such as rabbit and pheasant in a casserole was legendary within the family. Most importantly, Bev was home for her children and was a great listener.
Bev wrote numerous letters to inmates through the Prison Fellowship ministry, encouraging them to seek God and his plan. She also made cards and picture books for her grandchildren, and she constantly shared snippets of life through a family newsletter.
Bev's final years were spent battling Parkinson's with dementia. Her wry wit and humor continued to the end, even as she faced a multitude of challenges and longed to be reunited with her parents, her brother, Bob, and her husband, who predeceased her in 2019.
Bev's legacy is her daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Brian Berns of Bladen; son, Monte Siffring of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Terri Siffring of Lakewood, Colorado; and son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jessica Siffring of Windsor, Colorado; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jon) Holl, Travis (Kirsten) Berns, Caleb (Hannah) Berns, Sierra (Noah) Young, Jamie (dec.) and Ian Berns; Grace (Jacob) Thielen and Isabel Siffring and Ellyott and Ryann Siffring; great grandchildren, Ethan, Eli, Eva (dec.) Ella and Emma Holl; Nora, Henry and Ruby Berns; Clarke Berns; and James, Juliana, Charlotte and Charles Young.
Bev is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Connie Siffring of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Susie Discoe of Columbus; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Siffring of Ogallala.
