Billie Lois Nevill, age 96, of Barry, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 10, 2025. She was born on August 24, 1928, in Rusk, Texas to Loyd and Alice Bowling.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dariel Nevill; her son, Tommy Nevill; granddaughters, Theresa and Diane Nevill; great-granddaughter, Logan Everitt; great-great-grandson, Karson Wade Ferrell; and son-in-law, James Owen. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Malvin (Bud) Bowling, J.R. Bowling, William Bradley (W.B.) Bowling, Syble Vaughan, and Elsie Roper.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Prince and husband Ricky, and Darielene Owen; brothers Johnnie Bowling and Loyd Bowling and wife Wanda; grandchildren Becky Nevill Burgess, Bryan Owen, Christie Prince Johnson, Jason Owen, Jenny Owen Sullivan, Kevin Prince, and Robert Owen; along with 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Billie worked at the hat factory for 20 years making straw hats and was known for her love of sewing. Later, she worked at Blooming Grove School, where she became affectionately known as "Nanny Nevill" to students and staff alike. Her caring heart, dedication to her family, and warm personality touched many lives.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Cooke officiating. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Roper, Gary Roper, Johnnie Bowling, Joe Carl Bowling, Nathan Bowling, and David Bowling. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Bowling, Mark Norakas, and Josh Bowling.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Hall, the nurses and staff at Navarro Regional Hospital, and a special thank you to Hand in Hand Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
