Mr. Billy Ray Adkins SR., age 77, of Church Hill Tennessee, went to be with our Gracious Lord and Savior on Monday morning at his home July 7th, 2025. He was born May 27th, 1948, in Kentucky. The son of the late Ira and Kelsie Justice Adkins.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his siblings Verlis Dotson, Irene Fields, Nolene Wolford, Barbara Jean, Essie Mae Daniels, Betty Jo White, infant Rosetta Adkins, Ira Adkins Jr., Clell Adkins, and Luther "Duke" Adkins
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Adkins; a son, Billy Ray Adkins Jr. (Amy), Daughter, Leslie Lynn Dale (Jason); Grandchildren, Kassie Cobb (Mckenzie), Chayton Dale, Gracie Adkins; and Great Grand Children, Finley and Mallie Cobb; as well as one Sister Exie Faye Rowe (Donald Rowe)
Bill's Passion was his family, grandchildren, and a good trade with antique vehicles where he made lots of friends, which became family. He served his country as an Army Veteran during the Vietnam war. A proud Coal Miner in Kentucky, Bill worked till retirement underground to provide for his family.
Of all the jobs and hats that Bill wore over the years none compared to his proudest titles, "Dad", "My Daddy" and "Papaw Bill".
A visitation of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am at Carter-Trent Funeral Home – Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Mitch Bowling officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 2 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Jason Dale, Chayton Dale, James Henry Hurley, Mckenzie Cobb, Billy Adkins Jr, and P.D. Estep serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 pm.
Carter-Trent – Church Hill is serving the Adkins family.
