Billy Pullin Obituary

Billy George Pullin, age 90, of Wharton, Texas (formerly of Runge, Texas) passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Sodalis Senior Living facility in Wharton. He was born on May 11, 1934, in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania to George and Ann Bode.
He moved to Runge, Texas, where he was adopted by Carl and Lillie Pullin at an early age. He graduated from Runge High School, attended college in Kingsville and San Marcos, and eventually went into the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Mary Esther, on August 28, 1956. He deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and expressed those feelings often. He accepted Christ as his Savior and lived out his commitment in local church ministry. He taught Sunday School and led the music at First Baptist Church in Runge for over forty years, where he also was an active deacon. He was an emeritus deacon at First Baptist Church in Wharton in his later years, where he enjoyed faithful attendance to church and Sunday School. Aside from local church activities, he always encouraged his church to give and go on mission trips. He and Mary Esther enjoyed traveling to over forty locations overseas, throughout the U.S., and in Texas, leading lay-led revivals. The joy of sharing Christ with others was a lifelong passion that led to his appointment as the Vice-President of Lay-Led Revivals in the state of Texas. Besides the Lord, Billy's other passion was the meat business. He owned meat markets in Runge, Kenedy, and Victoria over the years. Even at the end of his life, he was still selling sausage in his mind.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Esther Pullin; sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Vince Faga.
He is survived by his children, Carl (Janel) Pullin and Tammy (Tony) Wishert; grandchildren Joshua Pullin, Matthew (Ashley) Wishert, Leah (Chris) Fox and Julia Pullin; great grandchildren David, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Jonathan Wishert; Caravelle and Caraline Cuellar; Sam and Nathan Fox.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30th at the Runge First Baptist Church. The Funeral will start at 2:00 p.m. also at the church. Burial will follow at the Runge City Cemetery.
