John "Don" Donald Signor Jr.

Don Signor - a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend - passed away on July 24, 2025 at age 76 following a battle with dementia. He is survived by his wife Cathie (Martinelli), three children: Don (Laura) Signor, Dan (Lyndsay) Signor, and Shelley (Mark) Rodgers, seven grandchildren, sister Sally (John) McDonald, brothers Alex (Joann) Signor and Rick (Sue) Signor as well as dozens of nieces, nephews and their children. Don is preceded in death by his parents Don "Sig" and Peggy Signor.

Born in Wilkinsburg on May 28, 1949, Don lived most of his life in Plum Borough and Penn Hills. He met Cathie while working at Crescent Pharmacy in Penn Hills and immediately told her, "I'll marry you." They spent 59 years of their lives together, married for 53.

Don was a hardworking man first in the U.S. Steel mill in Homestead and later in the pharmacy at West Penn Hospital in Bloomfield.

He found joy in the simple things: tending to his garden, spending time at Camp, and cracking a well-timed joke that always caught you off guard. He was witty and unpredictable - you never quite knew what he was going to say next - but behind that dry humor was a big, generous heart that left a lasting impression on so many.

Don's memory will live on in the laughter he brought, the love he gave, and the roots he planted - in both his garden and his family.

The family will be holding a private celebration of Don's life. His body is being donated to the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in order to further medical research and training for medical students.

Donations can be made in Don's memory to the Family Hospice (part of UPMC): or the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer's Research Center:
