Bobby (Bob) Dale Hodson, age 86, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2025, at his home in Red Bluff, California. He was born on January 17, 1939 in Joplin, Missouri. He and his family moved a lot, but settled in Red Bluff, California in 1959 where he met his wife, Janice Hodson. He is survived by his wife and lifelong partner, Janice of 64 years and their daughter, Debbie and husband, George. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Patty, his grandchildren, Randy, Amber, Rebecca, and Kamryn; and his sister, Donna. Bob is preceded in death by his son, Robert.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, papa (grandfather), and a friend to all who knew him. He has recently been described as very nice, kind, and encourager, blessed to know him, and many more. Bob was a hard worker. Even at a young age he helped to support his family by working in the orchards. He worked full-time as a grocery clerk at the age of 16 in Tucson, Arizona. He then started working at Purity and Holiday Markets in Red Bluff. He has also worked at Pipers Building Supply, Meeks Lumbar, and Tractor Supply.
Bob's faith in God was an important part of his life. He served as Sunday School Director at First Southern Baptist Church in Red Bluff for many years. He and his wife had a puppet ministry. Bob was a terrible singer, but God allowed him to sing "Jesus Loves Me" quite well with his puppet, Otis.
Many things brought a smile to Bob's face, including going to Arizona once a year to visit family where he enjoyed fishing trips and hunting. He cherished trips taken with family to South Carolina, Washington D.C., and Hawaii. Bob also loved Elvis throughout his life and went to six of his live concerts. Finally, he had a passion for Superman and Star Trek, both of which he shared with his son, daughter, and granddaughter, Amber. Even during his illness, one of his biggest joys was playing with hot wheels with his granddaughter, Kamryn.
We find comfort in knowing that Bob's legacy lives on through the lessons he has taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
The family will have a private service at the graveside. The family would like everyone to remember his remarkable life, the memories he left behind, and the legacy of his faith in God and love for everyone he knew.
Donations can be made to St. Judes or Tunnels to Towers. Thank you.
