Bobby Lee Sanders passed away peacefully at age 78 on March 15, 2025 in Lexington, Kentucky surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by one son; Bobby Lee Sanders Jr. and his wife, Melanie, one daughter; Rhonda Lynn Edwards and her husband, Sean and 2 stepdaughters; Sherri and Kerri. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sandra Eicher and her husband, Mike, his brother David Sanders and his wife Teresa, as well as his beloved sister-in-law, Linda Sanders and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia, his parents, John and Jane, his twin sister, Betty and his older brother, Johnny.
Bobby was born March 20th, 1946 and raised in Ironton, Ohio. He served in the United States Army as a Hawk Missile crewman during the years of 1963-1966. When he left service, he worked at General Motors ACDelco until retirement. Bobby spent his later years in Ironton with his two dogs, Buddy- a jack russell terrier- and Dolly- an "ugly pug", as he called her.
His lawn and beautiful flowers brought Bobby the most joy and he spent plenty of time in his garden, where he liked to decorate with bird houses and feeders and relax on his favorite glider bench and watch the wildlife. He also loved sudoku, crossword puzzles, and scrabble, and was known to be quite competitive with his family during board game nights. He will be forever in our hearts and missed very much by all that love him.
In honoring their loved one's wishes, the family will not hold a public service or gathering. They ask for your support and appreciate your understanding during this time. Please take a moment for personal reflection and cherish the memories shared.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
