Bonnie Boorman Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bonnie Nancy (Crenshaw) Boorman, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born in Houston on September 11th, 1942, the oldest child of Charles Edward Crenshaw V and Pearl Vail Crenshaw. She was a graduate of Austin High School and continued her studies in the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors College at the University of Texas. Bonnie would eventually earn her BA in Liberal Arts. She met her husband James "Skipper" Boorman of 58 years during her sophomore year. After graduation she began her career teaching English at the inaugural year of Reagan High School. After their marriage in 1966, Skipper started his career as a Naval Lawyer. Their Naval adventure started in Nevada where Bonnie continued teaching at a Native American school. They were then deployed to Naples, Italy where Bonnie enjoyed traveling Europe. They then moved to Morocco which became the birthplace of their first son James A. Boorman IV. She worked for the Communications Department for the Department of Defense. Bonnie moved back to Austin to complete a master's degree from the University of Texas in Library Science, while Skipper finished his master's degree in law in Washington D.C. They then moved to Hawaii, where Bonnie took over as Head Librarian at Trinity Lutheran School. She was also confirmed in the Episcopal Church while there. This led to her dedication to the church for the remainder of her life. They then moved to the Philippines where she was the Head Librarian for the Military Base in Subic Bay. This was the birthplace of their second son Benjamin. After a career of travel, they decided to return to Texas where Skipper finished his 20-year career as a Military Judge in Corpus Christi. Bonnie took a job as the Head Librarian for the Trinity Episcopal School. After Skipper's retirement they moved to The Woodlands where she led the Montgomery County South Branch Library for 20 years. She was very active in her worship at Trinity Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and was a church leader on the vestry. After she retired, they relocated to Sun City, Georgetown, and became devout members of Grace Episcopal Church where her volunteer efforts led her to be recognized as Church Member of the Year. She served as Head Chaplain at Community of Hope, a Member of the Altar Guild, a Member of Daughters of the King, a Leader with Circle of Care, and Head Instructor for Education for Ministry. Bonnie was also a member of numerous book clubs, and the Sun City Democrats. She is survived by her husband of 58 years James Albert Boorman III; brothers Charles Edward Crenshaw and wife Julie, Ben Daniel Crenshaw and wife Julie; sons James Albert Boorman IV and his wife Aimee, Benjamin Marshall Boorman and his wife Dianna; grandsons Jamie, Christopher, and Benjamin; granddaughters Davis and Britton. The service for Mrs. Boorman will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at Grace Episcopal Church, Georgetown.
