Grover Wilson Logan, age 81, entered into eternal rest on June 3, 2025, at the Richmond VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He was born on May 29, 1944, in Halifax County, Virginia, to the late Fred and Cecil Logan.
Grover proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran. During his service, he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from military service on July 21, 1967, after a distinguished and honorable career.
On April 26, 1976, Grover married the love of his life, Dr. Carolyn Logan. Their union was blessed with three children: Kimberly Mayes (Brian), Bryan Logan (Katreen), and Catrice Faison (Vincent).
Following his military retirement, Grover and his late brother George co-founded G&G Trucking, a business that served the community and various companies for many years. Grover later fully retired but never stopped working-with his hands in the soil or a line in the water. Grover loved gardening, growing everything from peppers and string beans to tomatoes and squash. He also enjoyed fishing and took great delight in visits to his favorite casinos, Dover and Rosie's.
Grover was a man of unwavering strength, generosity, and humor. He had a deep voice that was as commanding as it was comforting. Known for his infectious laugh and heartfelt advice, he had a way of lifting the spirits of everyone he encountered. To know him was to love him.
Grover was preceded in death by his siblings Adrean Logan, Fred Logan, George Logan, Henry Logan, and Emma Dow.
Grover is survived by his beloved wife; his children and their spouses; his eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Gertrude Freeman and Anne Johnson, both of Bronx, NY, Serita Singleton and Deborah Stewart (Matt), both of Louisa, VA, and Martha Logan-Biggs (Venor) of Woodbridge, VA; his sister-in-law, Silvia Logan of Annapolis, MD; his dear aunt Adelle Tyree (Russell) of Patterson, NJ; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Whiting's Funeral Home with Bishop Frank Lacey officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Logan may be viewed on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
