Bryan "Ski Daddy" Szablewski, 60, of Mulkeytown, formerly of Herrin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, at 1:41 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Bryan was born on September 17, 1964, in Chicago, to Donald Paul and Barbara Jean (Stanley) Szablewski. He was united in marriage to Stephanie Burnett on January 25, 1989, in Paducah, Kentucky. They've shared 36 years of marriage together.
Bryan was a 1982 graduate of Herrin High School. Upon graduating, He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Bryan was retired having been a coalminer at Pinckneyville Nighthawk Coal Mine. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Royalton.
Bryan was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting & fishing. He was a fantastic cook and BBQ. He enjoyed hosting cookouts to be surrounded by his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Szablewski of Mulkeytown; two children, Kara (Larry Smith) Szablewski of Mulkeytown and Troy (Alexis) Szablewski of Mulkeytown; grandchildren, Gabby Smith of Golconda, Allyson Smith of Metropolis, Cadence Smith of Mulkeytown, Aubrie Smith of Mulkeytown, Kinslee Szablewski of Mulkeytown, and Leela Szablewski of Mulkeytown; siblings, Mike (Kim) Murray of Johnston City, Chris (Terri) Szablewski of Walpole, and Donna (Randy) Riddle of West Frankfort; sister-in-law, Jodie Szablewski of Johnston City; father-in-law, Wendell Burnett of Mulkeytown. He is also survived by several sister and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Szablewski; mother-in-law, Barbara Burnett.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 9, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Royalton with Pastor Larry Hallman officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the church on the day of the service.
Vantrease-Pyle Funeral Home in Royalton is entrusted with the arrangements.
