Calvin Grant Barr, of Whittemore, formerly a resident of Lake Orion, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at My Michigan Hospital of Tawas City, age 81 years. Calvin was born in Pontiac, Michigan on November 17, 1943 to the late Calvin C. and Ella F. (Snowden) Barr. He graduated from Avondale High School in Auburn Hills and went on to work for almost 40 years in Quality Control at General Motors. Calvin enjoyed staying active, especially boating and fishing, bowling and watching all kinds of sports. Most of all he absolutely loved going for golf cart rides with his dog Lobo, who challenged Calvin on every ride, they both loved their time together and sharing visits with family and friends. He married his wife and best friend, Nancy (Mann) Barr on December 10, 2005. Calvin will forever be cherished by everyone who knew and loved his witty charm. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Barr of Whittemore; children, Todd (Margie) Barr of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Nichole Barr of Prudenville, Michigan, Louis Arsenault of Trenton, Michigan, and Jason Arsenault of Troy, Michigan; 1 sister, Irene Young of Punta Gorda, Florida; 7 grandchildren, Gage, Megan, Michael, Kara, Madilynn, Grayson, and Alyse; 6 great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Norma and Terry; and many special friends. Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Ella Frances Barr, and a son, Chad Barr. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will host a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 beginning at 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Collective on Newmans Street. Those wishing to express their condolences through a memorial donation are encouraged to consider a gift to the Iosco County Animal Shelter in Calvin's honor.
