Latta - Calvin Maurice "Reese" Lane, 94, passed away at the McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee in Florence SC May 30, 2025. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, June 2, 2025 in the Old Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Temperance Hill. The family will receive friends after the service in the cemetery. Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta is assisting the family.
Reese was born in Marion County July 7, 1930 the son of the late Stephen Carol Lane and Jenney Parrott Lane. He retired from Sunoco Products in Hartsville, SC driving trucks. He loved water sports especially boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed collecting Case knives. He was a member for many years of Dalco #160 Masonic Lodge in Latta, SC. He attended Open Door Independent Baptist Church in Marion, SC.
Reese is survived by his son, Wendell M. Lane (Debbie) of Florence, SC; daughters, Laurice Brigman of Latta, SC, Joan Allen of Latta, SC, and Rella Weaver (Vernie) of Darlington, SC; grandchildren, Robyn Moore (Gary) Jenny Allen, Merrette Dowdell (Matt), Paige McEachin (Peter), Drew Weaver (Caroline) and Landis Lane (Hannah); and ten great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Eloise Johnson Lane; brother, Jessie C. Lane; sisters, Geraldine Brigman and Mavis Stone; and his very special furry friend, Bentley.
