Candis Bowen Obituary

Candis (Candy) Jane Bowen, 64, of Prince Frederick, MD, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on November 12, 1960, in Prince Frederick, MD, Candy was the daughter of the late Suzanne (Latimer) and John Benson Bowen Jr. She was raised in Calvert County and graduated from Calvert High School in 1979.
A devoted single mother, Candy's greatest joy in life was raising her beloved daughter, Sarah Elizabeth. In her youth, she enjoyed bowling and cherished time spent with her family-especially her grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to her life.
Candy was a woman of remarkable strength and a heart of gold. To know her was truly to love her. She possessed an unbreakable spirit and met every challenge with courage, grace, and a signature spark that defined her personality. Her vibrant character, colorful vocabulary, and unwavering resilience left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She shattered expectations, broke through barriers, and lived life fiercely and unapologetically. Her love for her family and friends was boundless, and she would do anything for those she cared for.
Candy's legacy of strength, love, and determination will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Benson Bowen Sr. and Virginia Hudson Bowen, and her parents, Suzanne Latimer and John Benson Bowen Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Baxter, and son-in-law, Michael, of Dunkirk; her cherished grandchildren Kayla, Michael Jr., Sienna, Landon, Paisley, and Camryn; her sister, Monica Bowen Kilsheimer of Annapolis; her brother, John Benson Bowen III of St. Leonard; and nieces and nephew, Casey Kilsheimer, Brandon Kilsheimer, Kaatie Bowen, and Bethany Bowen.
A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD
