Carl Hubert Burton, Jr., age 53 of Detroit, Michigan formerly of Taylor, Michigan, was born to Carl and Rosemary Burton on January 3, 1971, both of his parents preceded him in death. Carl passed quietly and protected on January 22, 2024 with the comfort of his sister Theresa by his side.
Carl is survived by his four siblings, sister Theresa Upshaw of Hughesville MD, brothers Stephen Burton, Jamie Burton of Detroit MI and brother Lawerence who preceded him in death. Carl also leaves behind two nephews Ryan Thomas and Jamie Burton Jr., one great niece, Milan Rose Burton and a various host of aunts, cousins, and friends.
It is impossible to capture a person in an obituary and Carl will be deeply missed by his family. Carl was warm, fearless, and resilient. His intelligence was astounding. From the time he was a young child, he had a love for baseball and shared the passion with his father, who affectionately called him "Carly Boy."
While his death was unexpected, for years we feared his addiction would claim his life. In his last days, Carl was painfully honest about his life path in talks with his sister and wanted his message to be conveyed to everyone about the choices we make in life and drug addiction with the hopes of helping others who might be struggling as he did. Carl expressed a need to share that he was trying once again to be free of this disease, but unfortunately his body could not handle.
We can all take comfort in knowing Carl no longer suffers and is embrace with love from his mom, dad, and Larry. The family will be honoring Carl's request and will not be holding a service. We ask that you please uplift the family in prayer during this difficult time.
