Carl R. "Dick" Reed (1939–2025)
Carl R. "Dick" Reed, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong resident of Buckhannon, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on December 15, 1939, in Washington, D.C., Carl made Buckhannon his home for over 74 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ila Doreen Gill Reed (2018); son Carl R. Reed Jr.; daughter Susan A. Reed-Wright; grandson Randy Brooks Jr.; parents Carl Reed and Margaret "Liggen" Reed; and brother Raymond Reed.
Carl is survived by his son Charles "Chuck" (Dawn Presciti) Reed; grandchildren Ian C. Carr and Desiree Wright-Mckennon; and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy and pride to his later years.
He retired after 28 years with Moore Business Forms in Buckhannon and enjoyed farming, woodworking, and photography. Carl and Ila also shared a passion for tropical fish, operating Reed's Tropical Fish for eight memorable years.
The Reed family wishes to thank all friends and loved ones for their kind words and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's memory may be made to Upshur Cooperative Parish: Parish House and Crosslines Inc. in Carl's memory.
Friends will be received Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
