Carmella M. Giammarino, 103, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on July 20, 2025. She was born on December 3, 1921, to John and Josephine (Tanzella) Giammarino.
Carmella worked at the Pepperell Mills for a few years, saving to pursue her goal of becoming a hairdresser, which she did for over 30 years. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Good Shepherd Parish. A self-made woman, she often made her own clothes and was known for always dressing with elegance and class. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was a fabulous cook who especially loved baking for the holidays. Carmella loved spending time at the beach, enjoying the sun and dancing at the pier in the evenings. She loved spending time with family, enjoying family dinners, and traveling.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Frank Pepe and Joseph Giammarino; sisters Adella Neault, Mary Thibodeau, and Dorothy Grenier; niece Sandy Harrington; and nephew Armand Grenier.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Gary Giammarino, John Giammarino, Jesse Giammarino, Carol Littlefield, Albert Neault, Claudia Grandy, Robyn Packard, Donald Grenier, Wayne Grenier, Sandra Valliere, and Frank Pepe, Jr., Godchild Tracey Simoneau; as well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach. Burial will take place on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's Cemetery.
