Carol Behn, 74, passed away Sunday, May 18th, 2025 at her cabin surrounded by her loved ones.
Carol was born in Winchester, VA, and was one of four Crabill children to Naomi and Granville Crabill (Naomi remarried to Dennis Hoover) with 3 brothers (Tommy, Danny, and David). She went to James Wood High School and then to Radford University. As a woman who was one with nature, she thrived working in park/recreation administration at Jim Barnett Park. Carol moved to South Florida (Davie, FL) from her mid 20's to her late 60's. She loved to be outside in the Florida sunshine tending to her unforgettable butterfly garden. Carol was an amazing and dedicated mother to her son Lance Behn (Kaitlin) of Tampa, FL, daughter, Lacey Sharp (Nick) of Atlanta, GA, and son, Cody Behn of St. Augustine, FL. After her years in Florida with her children and former spouse, Jack Behn, she returned to Winchester, VA to care for her aging mother and to seek a fresh start. After attending her 50th high school reunion, Carol fell in love with David Goode, with whom she shared the Class of 69 "Biggest Flirt" Senior Superlative. She then found herself a peaceful cabin that she made a home with her new kindhearted partner, David. She was blessed with close friendships that filled her days with laughter and joy.
She was a woman who loved birdwatching, cooking, antiquing, and she always had the biggest green thumb in town. There was nothing she enjoyed more than decorating for every holiday like it would be her last. She could light up a room with her contagious smile and regularly befriended strangers within minutes. She loved those close to her fiercely, and always blessed them with her laughter.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025, at Jim Barnett Park (Kiwanis Club #1 Pavilion) from 5-7PM. Please join us to commemorate this beloved soul who will be so dearly missed by her loved ones.
