Carol Marie Cullen, 77, passed away suddenly at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on January 1, 2025, joining her Savior in heaven. She was born on February 13, 1947, to Herman and Helen Reifschneider in Lincoln, Nebraska. Carol graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota, then continued her education at the University of North Dakota, where she earned her nursing degree.
Carol married David Cullen on July 6, 1968, and together they had three children: David Cullen, Kelly Darragh and Michele Baumann.
She dedicated her career to caring for others, working as an ICU and lead ER nurse. She was a lover of all animals, especially her many beloved dogs she cared for over the years, her cat Otto- who will miss her snuggles, and the birds and squirrels that visited with her every day. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed doing her challenging daily word puzzles.
Carol is survived by her children; David (Allyssa) Cullen, Kelly (Rob) Darragh, and Michele (Corey) Baumann, grandchildren; Ellie Cullen, Robby Darragh, Adam Darragh, Breanna (Alex) Zajichek, Michaela (Nick) Peterson, Noah (Ashley) Baumann, Alexa Baumann, and Jonah Baumann, and great grandchildren; Clara Zajichek, Olive Peterson, and Eden Baumann, who she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister Lynne Wilson.
Carol had a strong and unwavering faith in God. While we mourn her unexpected loss, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the arms of the Savior.
There will be a private service for the family held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Weston, WI.
Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family at this time. Online condolences can be expressed at MWCS.MS.
