Carol Lynn Hamel, 69 of Eden Vt died peacefully on Tuesday July 8, 2025, at home with family by her side. She was born on January 6, 1956, in New Haven CT. The daughter of the late Mabel Swift.
She cherished every member of her family and is survived by quite the legacy: Her son Paul Curtis & his wife Kerry of Collierville TN, daughters Stephanie Lindgren & her husband Chad of Eden VT, Alicia Kuziel and husband Ryan of Meriden CT, Morgan Distasio and partner Eric Rutina of Meriden CT and Alexis Distasio of New Haven, CT. Fourteen grandchildren: Bryce Curtis, Tanner Curtis, Tim Dolan, Alex Gravel, Kelsey Stanton, Ryan Lindgren, Mariyah Fisk, Kyleigh Valdivia, Dametri Patry, Alex Kuziel, Jaxen Kuziel, Kailub Davis, Kairo Kuziel, Wren Kuziel, (baby) Rutina. Seven great grandchildren: Mason, Collin, Colt, Miya, Luke, Logan and Jameson. Sisters Patty (John) Crawford Shea of East Setauket NY and Susan (Paul) Gambardella of Scarborough ME, "Her sister from another mister" Janice Ouellette currently of Virginia and her beloved Corgi, Miss Bea.
Carol was a hopeless romantic, passionate about all living things. She gave her everything to everything she did with a huge heart and a gentle soul. Her love of gardening was almost as strong as the love, devotion and dedication she had towards her family, friends and animals. She had an incredibly contagious smile and quick wit, was classy to a fault, kind beyond words, generous beyond her means she loved deeply and completely. Her playful spunk served her well when dealing with what some would call "difficult people" as well as difficult times. She approached everything with a Can-do attitude.
More than anything, she loved her Jesus - starting every day with daily worship. She found comfort and strength in his love, found inspiration in worship music, daily devotionals and reflecting on the Bible. She knew in her heart and soul, where her final days would take her. The song "I can only imagine" was something she deeply related to.
Her Glory Days included motorcycle rides, Classic rock, dancing, decorating, glass painting, entertaining friends and family, and of course, did we mention gardening?
Prior to retiring, she was the Accounts manager at Kenneth Boroson Architects of New Haven CT, where she was the "fastest hire ever", being offered the job before she walked out of the interview. After retiring, she took a part-time job caregiving for people with disabilities.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date at her home in Eden, and another in Connecticut at a location and date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Journey Christian Church, 3700 Price Club Blvd, Midlothian VA 23112.
