Carol Hinders, 70, of Allison, passed away on September 23, 2025 at Waverly Health Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30, Saturday September 27th at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. Carol will be laid to rest at the Allison Cemetery following the service. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday September 26th at Trinity Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family to be used at a later date. Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for Carol and her family. Carol was born on October 3rd, 1954 to parents Frederick and Winifred "Ruth" (Andrews) Lursen in Hampton, Iowa. She attended Aplington High School and after went to college to become an LPN. On August 29, 1975, Carol married the love of her life, Duane Hinders. The two would spend their lives together for over 50 years until her passing. From this union a son, Matthew, and daughter Michelle were born. Carol was a stay-at-home mother for many years and then worked as a home healthcare aid for Comfort Care in Waterloo and Lutheran Services of Iowa until her retirement. In her free time she could be found laminating important items for keepsakes for herself and others. She also enjoyed going to Bible study and reading the Bible and devotions daily. When that time of year came around she could be found at local garage sales looking for her next treasures. She was one to make sure the house was always decorated for the season and holidays. Left to cherish Carol's memory is her husband of 50 years Duane, daughter Michelle, sisters: Cathie Jungling, twin Connie Hewitt, Cindy Nisius, Christine Mattingly, and brother-in-law Gary Hinders. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Winifred, and son Matthew.
