Carol Elizabeth Hughes, 63, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, was born April 8, 1962, in Muskogee to Bennie Seay and Lois Ivey (Gammel), and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Vinita, Oklahoma. Carol lived a full and faith-filled life. She grew up in Muskogee and later made her home in Fort Gibson, Tahlequah, Stillwater, and Vinita. She graduated from Grace Ministries and went on to further her education at Connors State College, earning an Associate Degree in business. Carol was a devoted member of Crossroads Ministries and found joy in Christian TV and music. She was a woman of unwavering faith whose heart overflowed with love for her family, friends, and caregivers. She loved traveling and treasured the memories made in Gulf Shores, Alabama; Rochester, New York; Branson, Missouri; Nebraska, California, Florida, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and even the Mediterranean. Of all her journeys, the ones spent with her grandkids and family meant the most to her. Carol will be remembered for her deep faith, her kindness, and her joyful spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and encouragement that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Carol's heart was always with her family. She is survived by her son, Kenny Lee Hughes and wife Leslie of Hichita, Oklahoma; daughter, Kristen Grace Mallard and husband Jeremy of Vinita, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kylie Hix of Vinita, Colt Hughes, Ketcher Hughes, Lane Hughes, Dillon Hughes of Hichita, Oklahoma, and CJ Mallard of Vinita, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Hazel Colvin of Vinita; sisters, Sharon Seay of West Fork, Arkansas, and Cheryl Marshall and husband David of Stillwater, Oklahoma; niece, Jennifer Heaslet of West Fork, Arkansas; nephews, Steven Marshall and wife Beth of Stillwater, Justin Marshall and wife Brook, and Luke Marshall and wife Rachel of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great-nieces, Zoe Marshall and Madi Marshall both of Stillwater; as well as many beloved cousins including Debbie East, Randy Gipson, Kathy Nicoletta, and Michael Gipson. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved nephew, Michael Shane Basham. Carol's life will be celebrated 2PM, Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Pastor Gene Haddock officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Randy Gipson, Michael Gipson, Steven Marshall, Justin Marshall, Luke Marshall, and Jeremy Mallard serving as casket bearers. Colt Hughes, Ketcher Hughes, Lane Hughes, and Dillon Hughes will serve as honorary casket bearers. The family of Carol Elizabeth Hughes has entrusted her care, service, and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. 918-478-2555.
