Carol Jean Migueles, born on January 9, 1946, in New Rochelle, New York, departed this world on July 10, 2025, at 5:15 AM in Washington DC, after a courageous 270-day struggle with recurrent DLBCL. Surrounded by love, she slipped away peacefully, with her beloved son Stephen and his husband Bryan by her side.
Carol’s life was a testament to strength and resilience. She proudly graduated from North Miami Senior High School in 1964 and dedicated herself to a career marked by warmth and service. As a lifeguard for the City of North Miami Beach, she not only safeguarded others but also embraced her passion for the water as an avid surfer and water-skier. Her commitment to education radiated through her role in the cafeteria at Immaculate Conception Elementary School, where she nurtured the next generation with both sustenance and kindness.
Married for 60 wonderful years to her cherished husband Roland Migueles, Carol created a life filled with love and laughter. Their shared journey is a beacon of devotion, illuminating the bonds of family and affection that Carol fostered throughout her life. A proud mother, she was deeply devoted to her children: Stephen, Chris, and their spouses, Jamie and Bryan, often expressing her joy in the accomplishments and happiness of all of them. Carol's affection extended to her beloved grand-cats, Ralphie, Cozy, and Moxie, who brought her immeasurable joy.
With an undying spirit, Carol was not only a source of strength but also a refuge of motherly reassurance to those around her. Characterized by her authenticity, warmth, and loyalty, she brought humor and delight into the lives she touched. She was a phenomenal friend and was surrounded by phenomenal, cherished friends. Her love for animals and the outdoors was evident in all her endeavors, and her competitive nature emerged in her exuberant participation in bingo games, where her enthusiastic spirit shone bright.
Carol is survived by her loving husband Roland; her sons, Stephen and Chris, along with their spouses Bryan and Jamie; dear family members including her sister-in-law and best friend Diana Marie Bucchino; her brother, Thomas Joseph Fossella and his wife Luddy Fossella; her niece Aimee Bucchino Ledesma; her nephews Nicholas Bucchino, Thomas Joseph Fossella, Jr., and Michael Fossella; her niece-in-laws Melissa Bucchino, Katrina Fossella, and Melinda Fossella; and her nephew-in-law Victor Ledesma. She also leaves behind her grand-nieces Fiona and Sabrina Ledesma and Bella and Gia Fossella.
Though she faced challenges with defiance and vulnerability, Carol's legacy lies in the love she poured into her family, reminding all who knew her of the importance of connection, joy, and laughter. She is predeceased by her parents, Thomas Vido Fossella and Filomena "Faye" Ferrando Aucoin.
As we remember Carol Jean Migueles, we celebrate a woman whose life was rich with adventure, love, and unwavering loyalty. May her spirit continue to inspire warmth and brightness in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
